With beautiful long slender shape, the black Cardinalfish fish makes a beautiful addition to any tank. It has large black eyes that are complimented by spots on the fins of similar size. The Black Cardinalfish thrives best at a temperature range of 72-78 degree Fahrenheit. Its diet is mainly comprised of small crustaceans and fishes, and also accepts a wide variety of meaty food stuffs. The Black Cardinalfish can also be fed with color enhancing foods such as spirulina which helps in maintaining its color. It mainly inhabits rocky or coral rich reefs and is found mostly in caves and crevices, that is why it is considered safe to keep in a reef tank. We suggest you therefore keep a few live rocks in your aquarium. It tends to hide in sea grass or other plants, or may use long spined urchins for camouflage. The Black Cardinalfish is nocturnal and does most of their feeding at night time. The Black Cardinalfish features mouth brooders, in which they incubate their eggs. They generally maintain a school and look amazing while swimming with mesmerizing colored body. The Black Cardinalfish is easy to care and makes a good choice for a beginner aquarist.
